ArtScampers

The First Presbyterian Church Nursery School is pleased to offer the "ArtScampers" 2011 summer program for young children ages three to six.

A Balanced Program
"ArtScampers" will use the outdoor recreational facilities and air-conditioned classrooms of Collyer Center to provide a creative program of music and the arts. "ArtScampers" will meet from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the following schedule:

  • 3-year olds: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • 4, 5, & 6-year olds: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

  • Children will be grouped by age and interest.

    Special Weekly Themes
Under the supervision of a professional early childhood staff, the "ArtScampers" program will be theme bases. Each week's program will feature an enjoyable mix of activities centered around a particular fun theme. A few examples might include Dinosaur, Hawaiian, and Wild West Week. Arts and crafts, music and movement, drama, nature study, cooking and outdoor play (including sprinkler play on hot days) experiences will incorporate the weekly theme.

Focus on Music, Art and Literature
Arts and crafts activities will encourage creativity and the use of a variety of materials. A music specialist will meet with campers weekly, introducing sing-a-longs, theme based activities and the use of percussion and other instruments. A movement and gym sports specialist will encourage large motor development.

    Something Special
A special event and guest artist will be a part of each session to entertain as well as to enrich each child's camp experience. Parents will be invited for a "Sing-A-Long" at the end of each session.
