Handwriting Without Tears

Handwriting Without Tears has recently been integrated into our daily curriculum and gives children the opportunity to participate in group and individual writing experiences that emphasize:

  • Memory: identifying and visualizing letters and numbers
  • Orientation: printing letters and numbers without reversals
  • Placement: Following line and placing letters and numbers correctly on a baseline
  • Size: writing an appropriate and consistent size

In keeping with our developmentally appropriate philosophy, we feel that as we continue to reinforce gross and fine motor skills our children can begin to benefit from the exciting content of this program.

The staff facilitates the program using newly purchased materials including individual workbooks: “Get Set for School," challenging new manipulatives, a selection of participatory music, and creative fine motor activities in whole and small group settings.
