Outreach Programs

Abilis
A local center that supports and advocates for the physically disabled who wish to build able lives and strong communities.

Call a Ride
A personal, door-to-door transportation service, originally created by First Presbyterian, for ambulatory elders to any destination in Greenwich.

Carver Center
A dynamic community center in Port Chester which assists minority children from low-income families to excel in school and to thrive in society.

Family Re-Entry
A diverse range of programs designed to address the family challenges related to incarceration, with FPCG focused on assisting the children of imprisoned parents.

God's Green Market
A pioneering project that grows fresh vegetables on donated farmland and distributes the produce in "free farmer's markets" to hungry "working poor" families.

Greenwich Chaplaincy
A team of chaplains who provide spiritual ministry to people who are unable to attend worship services in a church due to age-related frailty or other constraining disabilities.

Hearts for Honduras
A school program developed by a sister Presbyterian church which contributes education, food, and opportunity to a struggling community in Honduras.

Kids in Crisis
A holistically protective and caring residential shelter for abused children in Fairfield County, handling 4,000 children per year from all economic backgrounds.

Literacy Volunteers
A renowned national program, providing service in the FPCG building, which assists foreign-language adults to develop communication skills in English.

Neighbor to Neighbor
A "food bank" which provides free groceries and clothing to very-low-income residents of Greenwich, ranging from young minority workers to seniors living on low fixed income.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
An enterprise of the national Presbyterian organization which arrives early in major disasters to provide initial relief and stays for years to help victims recover and rebuild.

Prisoner Visitation
A team of FPCG congregation members who provide personal visitation, family support, and modest economic assistance (e.g. tuition) to female inmates in the federal prison in Danbury.

Rebuilding Together
A national organization which provides a wide range of free home repair to families consumed by the distraction and expense of a severe personal calamity.

Shelter for the Homeless
A Stamford agency that offers food, shelter, and re-entry programs to about sixty homeless men.
