Three-Year-Old Program

The three-year-old program is offered 3 days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9:00 – 11:15 a.m. or in the afternoons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 12:30 – 3:00 p.m. There is also an option to do 2 days a week on Tuesday and Thursday or 5 days a week, Monday - Friday, 9:00 – 11:15 a.m.

The core curriculum for this program is presented through an inter-disciplinary approach based on Unit Theme Development, interfaced with the Connecticut Pre-School Frameworks, and age appropriate developmental State Benchmarks. The central themes are introduced and enhanced through experiences in creative multi-media art, music and movement, language and literature, science and discovery, mathematics, dramatic play, fine and gross motor skills development and readiness.

The three-year-olds in the morning program have the opportunity to extend their day until 12:50 p.m. on the days they go to school, Monday - Thursday to further their development with specific components of the core curriculum as well as have lunch and social interaction with teaching staff and classmates. Children remain with their friends and teachers from the morning program during extended day to fully benefit from this experience. Enrollment for extended day begins in concert with registration for the next year in the Fall, or at the beginning of each semester.

Enrichment programming has become an important part of our effort to provide a rich and varied experience for our children. These creative programs are designed to be a complement to daily activities by providing a unique “addition" to the curriculum, and designed and implemented by our multi-talented nursery school staff.

During the month of May, the three-year-olds will have the opportunity to participate in the enrichment program "Animal Adventures". This program will run for three sessions and will be offered after extended day from 12:50-1:45 p.m. Themes will include "The Lion's Den", "Which Came First, the Chicken or the Egg?", and "Taking Time for Turtles". Further information and registration for this program will take place in April.
