Two-by-Two Program
As an outreach of First Presbyterian Church to the larger community, the Two-by-Two program is non-sectarian and open to all families regardless of race, ethnicity or socio-economic background.
The Two-by-Two Program provides an opportunity for toddlers to:
- Gently separate from parents and caregivers.
- Interact socially with peers and develop positive relationships with early childhood staff.
- Progress from solitary to parallel to interactive play.
- Be exposed and immersed in a variety of enriching experiences.
- Enjoy a positive and successful "first school" experience in a developmentally appropriate, secure learning environment.
Housed in our newly designed space, “Two-by-Two” is fully licensed by the Connecticut Department of Health Services, providing a safe and appropriate physical environment for our children.
Our Staff is made up of four early childhood professionals with many years of collective experience in the field. The student/teacher ratio is 3:1 at all times. Substitute teachers are available in case of teacher illness or absence.
A Music Teacher will also be a part of the program. She will meet with classes twice monthly to introduce the children to favorite songs, basic body movements, large motor activities, and the use of simple instruments.
Registration for September is accepted in February.
- Children who are two years old by October 1st are age eligible for the program. Program options are: Monday and Wednesday mornings, Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and Friday mornings. Hours are 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.
- First Presbyterian Church member families will receive priority in registration, all other spaces will be determined by lottery.

We’d like parents to be aware of those characteristics that make two year olds unique; providing us with wonderful challenges, and great rewards!
CHARACTERISTICS OF TWO YEAR OLDS...

THEY ARE CURIOUS
Let them explore: see, touch, taste, use, and sniff.
