Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.  All of us have suffered a loss at some time in our lives.  It may be:  job loss, death of a loved one, a frightening diagnosis, divorce or other traumatic experiences.  Even if you have loving friends and a supportive family, you may still have a hard time "getting on track" or plowing through each day.  Many care receivers request Stephen Ministry because they don't want to be a burden to their family or their family feels they've heard the some stories over and over.

A Stephen Minister meets with you once a week and listens.  If you're comfortable with it, they'll pray with you.  They can become a port in the storm and can compassionately stand by your side as you navigate through this passage.  A Stephen Minister commits to meeting with each care reciever for up to a year.  They receive 40 hours of training and on-going monthly supervision.  All care is confidential and free.

You don't have to be an FPCG member to have a Stephen Minister but you do have to live within a ten mile radius of FPCG so that we can get to you!  To see if Stephen Ministry might be right for you, call 203-869-8686 to speak with the Reverend Andre Castillo.

Deacon Support

The Board of Deacons includes 12-15 members dedicated to serving their fellow congregants and church family with prayerful, loving support and assistance.  Each Deacon is assigned a ‘flock’ of several dozen members, and serves as a personal point of contact with emails, phone calls, cards, letters, and where safe and feasible, in-person visits.

For congregational members, the Deacons are a vital arm of the church, providing support, celebration, and compassion….. and sponsoring key fellowship events such as the Spring Luncheon and Pacific House holiday breakfasts.  To find out your assigned Deacon, contact Nancilee Holland at nancilee250@gmail.com or contact the church office.
