Rev. Andre Castillo

Rev. Andre Castillo has an abiding passion for seeing disciples of all ages thrive in their relationships with Christ and the Church. A Southern California native, Andre grew up in faith and ministry leadership at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church in San Diego, CA. He studied music at the University of California in Irvine and completed his Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. He has served in a variety of roles in church leadership including Director of Operations, Community Life Pastor, Worship Leader, and Assistant Director of Youth Music and Drama, and has served congregations from Los Angeles to Chicago.

As a member of the Presbytery of Southern New England, Andre serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees and President of the Corporation. Andre is also a certified transitional pastor with the PC(USA). His ecumenical work has included being a fellow with the Pastoral Innovation Network of New England, a hospital chaplain at the Methodist Hospital of Southern California, and chaplain to the Arcadia Fire Department. His published works include numerous articles in The Greenwich Sentinel, articles in Resonance: A Theological Journal, and ghost authorship of a chapter in Letters to a Birmingham Jail: A Response to the Words and Dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in addition to many hymn lyrics and Christmas pageants.

 

Andre is thrilled to be in his seventh year of service with the First Presbyterian Church family, and feels incredibly blessed to be partnering with a leadership team and congregation that is so passionately committed to intergenerational mission and ministry. In his free time, Andre loves carpentry, singing, reading, running, and joining pickup games of just about any sport. Andre lives in Cos Cob with his six-year-old daughter, Noelle.
