Deacons 

At First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich, Deacons are organized as a Board led by the Moderator. Accountable to the authority of the Session, the Board meets regularly and cares for members in need and assumes other duties as directed from time to time. Deacon candidates are sought and chosen by the Session’s Nominating Committee for their spiritual character, honest repute, brotherly and sisterly love, sincere compassion, and sound judgment. Once nominated, Deacons are elected by the Congregation for a term of three years, or as needed. 

Deacons’ services include hospital visits, meal deliveries, an altar flower to celebrate a birth, arranging rides to worship and generally being available to hear any concerns or questions. The Deacons warmly invite members to reach out on their behalf, or perhaps on behalf of another church member who may benefit from a meal, a visit, or just a word of encouragement.

FIRST 4 FOOD. Deacons will prepare and deliver a meal and support to members recovering from physical, emotional, or other challenging situations. Those who need this service and others who might be inspired to cook or deliver should reach out to the organizer Renie Blair at (203) 637-1807.

FIRST SUNDAY TRANSPORTATION. Deacons offer rides to and from church on the FIRST SUNDAY of each month. Those who need a ride should call Bob Giambo (914) 434-4832 to arrange transportation.
